I’ve never seen the city so quiet at Christmas time.

Mum and I walked from MLC Centre to Martin Place and then back down to David Jones on Market Street.

Usually the city would be completely crowded on the Saturday before Christmas but due to the events of the past week, it is definitely still a sombre scene (which is totally understandable).

We visited the Martin Place memorial that has been set up and out of respect we refused to take photos, but it is a place of reflection. Mum and I definitely shed some tears, we were close to going down to the market to buy some flowers, but we will be making a donation to Beyond Blue and The Katrina Dawson Foundation instead.

I’ve stated previously, I’m a born and bred Sydneysider and I’m proud of how our city has held their heads high and come together since the traumatic events earlier in the week.

We’ve got three big events coming up in the next 10 days, the Carols in the Domain tonight, Sydney to Hobart on Boxing Day and the New Year’s Eve Celebrations. Even though I can’t get into the city for them, I’ll be watching them on television and I can only hope others will attend them to show how proud we are of the city I cherish and love.
